Golfers marched into the Arsenal Golf Course; Owerri to kick start the 8th Leg of the Race to Nigeria Masters in the first day in the month of March. With 36°C (mostly sunny) weather condition in the lovely city of Owerri, 6 golfers start the battle to subdue the course.

Topping the leaderboard with 1 over par (73) is a relentless golfer; G. Inalegwu. He started his round with a bogey, par in 2nd, 3rd hole, bogey in 4th, par in 5th, bogey in 6th, birdie in 7th & 8th hole and eventually finishes the front nine with a par to make 36. With a par in 10th hole, bogey in 11th, par in 12th, birdie in 13th, bogey in hole 14th, 15th, par in 16th and making a birdie in 17th and 18th hole saw him coming in with 37, finishing the round with 1 over par (73).

In a media chat with the africantour correspondent the golfer said, “I am excited to have been the first person on the board, I didn’t believe it because I started my round with a bogey which was enough for me to be discouraged but I rather saw that as a challenge and I told myself I wouldn’t let that get to me”.

Tying in second place with 2 scores difference is J. Moses and L. Onjefu whose game ended with 3 over par (75). Moses’s game was a combination of of 9 par, 6 bogey and 3 birdie while Onjefu on the other hand had 9 par, 5 bogey and 4 birdie.

In a chat with Onjefu, the golfer sounded pretty disappointed, seems the game didn’t go has he had planned but ready to take up the challenge to put in it all on the golf course tomorrow.
