Christopher Ambe raced out to the top of the leaderboard after a brilliant first round in Arsenal Golf Course, Owerri on Thursday, and he never looked back from there.
Ambe shot a four-under 68 Thursday to finish to finish 5 under for the tournament, topping J. Moses by Twenty-four strokes. He opened with a seven – under 66 on Thursday and stayed the course from there.

Five players (J.Moses, J. Ibrahim, M. Pam, U. Anoruo and B. Gbadagesi) rounded behind with poor scores.
​
​
For Ambe, this is the second win on African tour, it was an emotional day.
​
‘’I am very delighted to be playing in this tournament and grateful for the opportunity and look forward to coming back for more tournament’’Ambe said during his interview.
​
He shows his excitement and looking forward to the Ivory coast tournament in April.
​
With the win, Ambe earned himself a cool $ 500 payout and he also earned an extra $200 for beating the 5-under record.
He also still remains No 1 in the Professional OOM 2021. Not bad for four days’ worth of work.

It wasn’t an easy road. He played 80 in his second round and bounced back up the next day.
Indeed, he is a great Professional.

ROAD TO NIGERIAN MASTERS LEG 3 DAY 3: Christopher Ambe back at it again!
The Road is getting tougher, with eight players racing to win Christopher Ambe the leading champion is back on his feet again.
​

The third day in the beautiful course of Obinze Owerri, Ambe who bounced back from his second round finished with 69 making him lead with Fourteen shots ahead.
​
​
Ambe started the day with two birdies and 2 bogeys finishing with E in the front night. He later played very well in the back nine with three birdies finishing with three under for the day.
​
In second place is M. Pam who finished with 80, still has a lot of work to do to catch the leader.
​
The rest of the chasing pack have a long way to go as they enter the last round of the Leg 3 in Arsenal Golf Club Obinze Owerri, Imo state.

DAY 2 ROAD TO NIGERIN MASTERS 2021:
The Second day of the Road to Nigerian Masters in the beautiful Arsenal golf course Obinze Owerri had been a very challenging day for the Eight players.

With Christopher Ambe still leading with 3 shots, his score of 80 in the second day was not encouraging. If he doesn’t sit up, he might lose to other players catching up with him.
​
In second place is M. Pam with 74 on the second round, he had the best score on this round, While J. Ibrahim behind him and J. Moses finished 74 on his second round.

The Game is getting tougher and hard to predict, the players need to bring their A game in Day 3.

The Third leg of Road to Nigerian Masters is finally here, On Monday the 22nd 8 golf players came to Arsenal Golf Course Obinze Owerri to compete.

Christopher Ambe, the No 1 on the Professional Order of Merit 2021, finished the day top of the leaderboard. The Champion was nearly perfect, putting together with only one bogey round of 66 to finish the day at 6 under par.
​
Ambe, who already won the last leg this season, maneuvered his way through much tougher conditions in the afternoon, reeling off with five birdies and one eagle as pat of his 66.
​

Other Golfers like J. Moses who finished with 74 in the first round, M.Pam finished 75 while U. Anoruo finished 77.

Christopher Ambe won the 2021 Road to Nigerian Masters leg 2 on Thursday, there is no doubt Christopher is primed to have more wins in African Tour this year.
For the first time in three seasons on the African Golf Tour, Christopher Ambe finally won the Road to Nigerian Masters 2021 leg 2 by defending Uchenna Anoruo to claim a six- stroke win.
Having led the tournament from the first round with 73, 69, 73, the Minna based professional golfer shot 72 on his final round to seal the victory. In second place is Anuoruo a promising newbie pro on the Tour sitting six-strokes away.

It’s a climax of a remarkable journey and path for the youngster, who this week suddenly and triumphantly realized the fruits of years’ worth of labor after sneaking into the field at the 11th hour, to winning an event as well as reaching the Number 1 spot on the Pro African Tour 2021 Order of Merit.
​
In his Interview after the game, Christopher Ambe talks about how he took a chance to enter the tournament, he believed in himself and in his game and was confident when he registered. He also mentioned he has been intensively working on his game, his plan in the nearest future is to play on the world Tour, European Tour and the US PGA Tour.
​
The next Leg of the Road to Nigerian Masters comes up next week, we await to see what the youngers have for us.

Christopher Ambe shoots 3rd- Round 73 thereby leading with 5 shots in the Road to Nigerian Masters

Christopher Ambe’s exciting week at the 2021 road to Nigerian Masters continued Wednesday as he continued leading with 1 under par 215 in the third round at Arsenal Golf Course, Owerri, Imo state.
​
​
Ambe entered the third round well off after shooting a 73 in the first round and 69 in the second round. Upon entering the course, Ambe was leading by six shots, with Uche Anoruo behind.
​
The Minna Pro started his round with a bogey on the 4th hole, before making a birdie on the 9th hole finishing the first nine with even par, 35. He opened his back nine run with a bogey and birdie on the 11th/12th hole and two more bogey on the 14th and 18th hole for a round score of 73.
Speaking after his rounds Ambe was happy with his performance and hoped to replicate the same in the final round.
Ambe now sits Six strokes ahead of Uchenna Anoruo who had a shot if 73 with the leader, making him his gross score to 5 under par, 221.
​
The stage is set for a pulsating finish to the second leg of the 2021 Race to Nigerian Masters, with up to two players with a realistic chance of claiming the title in Arsenal Golf Course.
​
The rest of the players behind struggling to keep Up and have little chance as the final round gets closer.
​

George Inalegwu wins Leg 13 Amateur Race to Nigerian Masters for the first time.
George Inalegwu closed with 2 over 74 and won the Race to Nigerian Masters Leg 13, making it his first time of taking lead in the tour
George shot Par 72 on his first round, went behind on his second round with 3 over par, coming back up on his third round with 1 under to win the tournament with 4 shots ahead of the others.
In his Interview George explained how he is excited to be the winner of the African golf tour amateur category, he said ''last week I missed the cut by two but I decided to practice more so I could step up my game. The tour really helped to motivate us through the birdie meter count, this also had effect in helping me boost my confidence at the game so I can make some winnings. I intend to play well in the next tournament so I can maintain being a winner always''.
U. Anoruo and D. Ali tie in second place with 8 over par. Ali made a remarkable game this week. The first round for him was badly played. he started coming up from the second round with 2 over, while his third and final round he finished with 2 under. He played 1 eagle, 3 birdies and 3 bogey in his final round. In his interview he said ''I'm so happy to be among the few player who went under par today!! because the course is tough. Golf is usually not about the physical strength, but ones ability to compose and manage your mental strength in the course of play, which is all about been positive. I was actually able to do a bit of that today that is why I was able to shoot 70 today''
What a wonderful game this round as been. This is the first time three players are making cut in 2021 Race to Nigerian Masters.

Christopher Ambe Eyes 7th Title as he extends lead in Road To Nigerian Masters

Christopher Ambe chased a Tuesday 6-under 66 with a Saturday 71 1-under Par, entering final round of the 2021 Road to Nigeria Masters Leg-8 holding a whooping 11 strokes lead.
The Minna based professional, who entered the tournament off a win at the 7th leg of the series, moved to 3-under after 54holes following a round highlighted by four bogeys and five straight birdies which helped him extend his leading margin.
Christopher Ambe's golfing career, is one that is characterized by hard work in all ramifications. so when it’s going his way, as it is now! He just needs to enjoy it.
Remaining in second place heading into the final round of the tournament is Jimoh Ibrahim who faltered in the third round after posting a 4-over 76, with a cumulative score of 8-over par 224.
With a 74 of his own, Amateur player John Alex was alone in third place after the third round on 14 over par, one ahead of Warri based Samuel Otubor who posted a 78 also and a cumulative score of 15 over par heading into the final round.
"Though today wasn't that smooth for me out there but I managed to remain calm and told myself whatever the outcome may be I'd take it like that" Alex told 9jagolf.com.ng in a chat.
Christopher now eyes an 8th title on the African tour this season and seams to be unstoppable..........

Day 2 at Arsenal Golf Course did not disappoint, as the menacing layout defended itself nicely, once again, against the tour players with only two of them been able to go below par on day two. Christopher Ambes’ 6-under 66 was the best round by 5 shot, but there was on one other player who went below par on day 2 also.
The opening-round scoring average was 78 .375 surely inflated by a handful of mid-80s rounds from club pros in the field.......but hey, note this, tour pros weren’t immune to the big numbers, too..
Arsenal golf course, offering an armada of birdies and a lone bogey in Tuesdays second round of the 8th leg, Road to Nigeria Masters Series. Christopher Ambe was able to sail away from all others and took a staggering 6-shot lead with a stunning 6-under-par 66, a score that was 9.5 strokes better than his first round score of 76.
A day day earlier in the first round, he had plenty of other players ahead of him..where two amongst the players, shot pair's of 71 to sit atop of the leader board.
But under an overcast skies and on a slightly softer course and less crusty greens, a fleet of players came charging and before noon talk of a runaway had been silenced. Ambe quickly hit the ground running birdied four of his first nine holes before stumbling on his single blemish at the eleveth. he regained some distance between himself and the field with three late birdies on the back nine.
Meanwhile Bolu Gbadegesin and Jimoh Ibrahim who were overnight leaders after shooting scores of 1-under par 71's. In the both players dropped off the top spot, after cardin scores of 83 and 77 respectively, with Jimoh remaining in second spot and 7 strokes of the lead, at 4-over part after 36 holes.
By virtue of a 71 on Tuesday, John Alex of a graduate of David Mark golf Academy pulled a little closer, 12 shots off the lead at 10-over par.

Final round of Road To Nigerian Masters (Amateurs) Leg 28

J. Alex Eyes 3rd tittle as he extends lead with 8 shots ahead in the road to the nigerian masters leg 28 final round;
At the Arsenal golf course owerri, the weather, is lovely, a bit hazy, but not enough to stop 5 players from competing for the prize money.
On the par 72 golf course in Owerri J. Alex shot three over par, a rather average start for the player; Having shot 74 after the first round, he played a 1-over (73) but was able to maintain his lead with a 3-over (75) and make the cut into the final round of Day 4. Albeit this gray patch, the long hitter was able to play 2 under (70) and clinch victory, thereby winning the prize money of N100,000 and Birdie count of N6,500.

In second place in the final was U. Anoruo, who started with great promise in the first round but faltered after playing 3 over course pars in his second, third and final round consecutively with 78, 75 and 76 in his final round. He fell to second place on the leaderboard as he finished with a cumulative score of +12 after 72 holes (300).

In third place is D. Ali, who played 2-over (74) after the first round, but went a little behind after he shot 4-over (76) in the second round. On Thursday, he played 3-over (75) , going into the final round of day 4. He rounded up with 5 over (77) and a cumulative score of +14 after 72 holes (302).
​
In a brief interview with the winner, J. Alex, he expresses his gratitude first to God and to the president of the African tour golf foundation, for creating such a wonderful opportunity for young golfers to fine tune their skills while playing competitively with other excellent golfers. In his interview he remarked on his excitement in making the cut by playing 2-under. With big dreams to lead in the tour's order of merit, he's gearing up to win the next tournament.

The Masters tournament is going to be SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST as these young golfers will not only compete for prize money but also to win first place in the tour order of merit.

The Benue Amateur player started his round with a par, then a birdie which followed on the 3rd hole before making bogeys on the 4th,5th and 6th hole and finishing the first 9 with birdies. He opened his back 9 with a birdie and bogey on 10th/11th hole; three more birdies on 12th, 14th and 18th hole for a round score of 1 under (71).

Speaking after his round in a chat, D. Ali expressed great excitement with his performance and hopes to replicate the same in the 2nd, 3rd and final rounds.

Tied in second place of the first round is J. Moses and U. It's Day Two of the Masters tournament at the 18-hole Arsennal Golf Course Owerri, Six golfers battle it out in the dry harmattan weather to survive what seems to be a very competitive tournament.

Benue player D. Ali hit the ground running on day 1 but keeping the lead has seemed to be a challenge on Day two as he played 1 over par, barely distancing himself from his closest contender by two points but still maintaining his lead at the top of the leaderboard.
​
“I struggled a bit with my strategy causing me to miss a few chances but I'm happy to still be top of the leaderboard even though by hares breath. I look forward to giving it my best shot’’ said Ali as he reassuringly talked about maintaining a strategy that works.

With a total of 2-over par, U. Anuoro is the closest contender on the leaderboard, tailing D. Ali with a total of 146 to his 144 after both players finished the day on level par of 1 over each. It was a rather tidy round creating much suspense around both players into day three.

It's been a rather tough time for J.Alex the recent winner of the masters (Amateur) tournament in Owerri as he struggles to break out of 4th place on the leaderboard, he carded a 7 over par along with his contender J.Moses who firmly retains 3rd place in the second day. With 4points differentiating the two players, day three promises to be tougher and more eventful in defining who would emerge the Winner.

It was however a disastrous day for B. Gbadagesi who picked up an eight after over pitching the green, he fell one place in the leaderboard to place 6th on 8 over par 80 to drop from fifth place to sixth place on the leader board. On the other hand, A. Okeoma shot 6 over par 78 to step up to fifth place and with a good chance of stringing to the top in the next round.

The city of Owerri definitely just got hotter as the 6 players in the Masters tournament definitely turned up the heat to prove they are worthy of earning the title and the prize money.

It's been a tough day for D. Ali as he staggers down the leaderboard into second place after playing 6 over par 78.

"Though today wasn't that great for me I tried to remain calm and told myself whatever the outcome I would give it my best" Ali told theafricantour interviewer in a chat.
Moving up to number one on the leader board with a 1 stroke lead ahead of his closest contender is U. Anuoro. The hitter played a 3 over par 75 to move up to number 1, he Eyes the prize money and aims to win the tournament as he extends lead in Owerri.

Survival of the Fittest: D. Ali wins the masters tournament for the first time
In the lovely city of Owerri, three players having proved themselves as the top contenders in the just concluded masters tournament, would go home with the prize money for their hard work. The luscious green grass of the Arsenal Golf course, soaked with the sweat of Six Zealous players, would tell the story of those who defeated the course in the four day outing.
With a total of 301, 13 over par through 72 holes is D. Ali. The optimistic player who started the game on high notes with a score of 1 under par in his first round, he built a two-stroke lead up until day three, where he faltered but recovered spectacularly to maintain his position as top of the leaderboard and would be leaving with a whooping cash prize of N250,000.

"I missed a lot of opportunities, but I'm excited that I could make it to top three, that was my ultimate goal at this tournament and I'm glad I could achieve that. I've learnt so much that I intend to execute next year. I'm grateful for this opportunity" Ali said excitedly during his interview.

Coming close in second place by a two-stroke margin is the resilient U. Anuoro. The player who anticipated a replication of yesterdays move up the leaderboard board faltered in the final round by playing 10 over Par 82. He ascended to the top of the leaderboard in the third round but failed to maintain it. .He is however, really excited to come out as top three in the tournament and would be leaving with a whooping cash prize of N150,000. “I'm a bit disappointed by my golf performance today but I'm not discouraged, just more eager to succeed next year" Anoruo said.

It's not the first place, but it's the top and final three, and that's satisfactory for J. Alex, who struggled successfully to displace J. Moses to come out as top three in the survival of the fittest and would be leaving with a whooping cash prize of N100,000.
Following closely behind is J. Moses, who did great but didn't make it to the final top three But still stood first on the tours order of merit and would be leaving with a whooping cash prize of N100,000. With the highest stroke lead of 18 shots, he settles in fourth place, ahead of B.Gbadagesi and A. Okeoma, who rank 5th and 6th, respectively, on the leaderboard.
It's been a exciting tournament with unexpected turns, but above all great wins for the top three players and first player on the tours order of merit. A delectable way to end the year, indeed. With a great head start on the leaderboard is the No 4 on the amateur order of merit 2021, U. Anoruo. The Owerri based player started his round with a bogey, then a birdie which followed on the 3rd hole before making bogey and pars on the 4th, 5th and 6th hole and finishing the first 9 with a birdie, out with (35). In Round 3, the tenacious J. Ibrahim played 4 bogeys and 4 birdies with which he was able to achieve an even score of 72.
"Though I started a bit slow I'm excited to be able to maintain my position" Ibrahim said when caught in a media chat with 9ja golf.

J. Ibrahim with a cumulative of 292 with +4 after 72 holes made the cut to win 250,000 OOM points to take the lead in the tour OOM list. There’s a strong field in Owerri this week, with new contenders and familiar faces. With plenty of players at the top end who could win it, this promises to be an exciting tounament with loads of surprises.

Emerging top on the leaderboard is G. Inalegwu who's 5th on the Order of Merit, the long swinger starts strong with two birdies and a round score -3 under (69), he's starting the tournament really strong. Last seen at the Amateur leg-25 tournament there's an excited buzz to see how well he fares in this tourney.

Following closely at second is U. Anoruo, a very familiar player with 3 birdies and 4 bogeys, playing -1 under (71). The player would be ceasing this opportunity to prove himself. It's the second day at the arsenal golf course in Owerri where players are on the Race to Nigeria Masters. It seems to have been a tough day for all as players struggle to hit the fairways and greens.
U. Anoruo tops the leaderboard on the second day by playing 3 birdies, he also had a bogey and a double bogey that earned him a 2 over (74) to have a cumulative of 1 over 145.

Coming close second on the tab is G. Inalegwu who dropped to second position, he played a cumulative of 3 over 147, his three birdies were countered by 4 bogeys and 1 double bogey. With 33°C, 9 players continue to battle for the 2nd Leg of the Race to Nigeria Master after the tournament disappointed most players yesterday.
The game has gotten more competitive as two players tie with a cumulative of 218. Still topping the leaderboard is U. Anoruo who played four birdies and three bogeys to round off with a 1 over (73). Anuoro who expressed excitement over this feat is sure of bringing his A-game in the final round tomorrow.

"I figured it wouldn’t be quite as easy as the first 2 days, it’s just not how the game of golf works, but I wasn’t planning on making bogeys but definitely wasn’t expecting it to be so tough”, said Anoruo in a chat with the africantour correspondent.

It's the Final round of the Race to Nigeria Masters and it's been a spectacular performance from all the players but only two players has make the cut!
U.Anoruo with a cumulative of 289 with +1 after 72 holes made the cut to win 220,000 Points to take the second position in the tour OOM list. His fantastic game play in final round earned him a 1 under (71), Anuoro was estatic to have maintained his 3 rounds lead to win the final. It's the 3rd Leg of the race to Nigerian masters and this must be the toughest opening matches in a long time. 9 players currently in the city of Owerri are having a difficult time subduing the Arsenal Golf course.
Topping the leaderboard with 5 over par (77) is J. Alex. The Player expressed his great dissapointment in his game style today. It was more than the bogeys which he hit three and scored a triple birdie on hole 5. speaking to the africantour correspondent, Alex said "this was a severely disappointing round. But tomorrow is another day we hit the greens!"

Prior to the yesterday’s match being the toughest opening matches in a while and leaving the players disappointed about their performances, the ever zealous player J. Alex who was hopeful about hitting the green eventually did.
Leading the board with 1 over par (73) is J. Alex. He started his round with a par, birdies on hole 2nd, 3rd, 4th, then a bogey on 5th hole and eventually finishes the first 9 with a par to make 38. With a bogey on 10th, 12th, 13th and 16th saw him coming in with under 36, finishing the round with +1 (73).

“I’m very excited that I am able to maintain the lead after a poor game yesterday and am hopeful that the remaining days to the end of the tournament will be more better” said, Alex in a media chat.

It's been a rather disappointing outing at the Arsenal Golf Course as players haven't been able to hit the greens successfully.
The tussle between J. Alex and D. Ali continues as he topples Alex to rank ahead on the leaderboard. With 6 birdies, 4 bogeys to round of at a -6 over par (78) and a cumulative of 231 D. Ali is still not safe as anything can happen in tomorrow's final round.

It’s the final round of the 3rd leg of the Race to Nigeria Masters and it’s been quite an experience for all the players, officiating bodies and the audience as this tournament happens to be the toughest in a while. 8 players battled for 4 days but none was able to subdue the Arsenal Golf course to make a cut.

Nonetheless, with the cumulative of 308 to make +20 after 72 holes; D. Ali and G. Inalegwu tied to be in the first place on the leaderboard. Ali’s game play in final round earned him +5 while Inalegwu on the other hand had +1 which landed him in a tie with D. Ali to top of the leaderboard.

Topping the Leaderboard with 2 under par (70) is U. Anoruo, the excited player having struggled in his first round was able to do better in his today’s game, thrilled to maintain first place on the Leaderboard he plans to Ace his next round.

Prior to yesterday game having U. Anoruo making a bogey in the entire round seeing him to the top of the board, the relentless golfer was able to maintain his place on the leaderboard.

Ali with 4 over par (76) made it to the Second position on the board while Anoruo with 8 over par (80), but the distinctive game he played yesterday made him maintain his lead with the cumulative of 227.

It’s the final round of the 4th Leg to the Race to Nigeria Masters, players finally competed to make a cut in the finals but none was able to.
With the cumulative of 301 with +13 after 72 holes, U. Anoruo maintained his position at the top of the leaderboard. Anoruo’s game play in the final round earned him 2 over par (74).

“The first day of the tournament was really challenging for me, I had no idea what was wrong but I said to myself that I have to make do of every opportunity that comes my way and that resulted into a better game the following day but the game of golf is just not predictable and that was why I couldn’t make a cut but nonetheless, am happy I was able to get a whole of myself and I will be bringing the energy down to the course in the next tournament”, Anoruo said in an interview with the africantour correspondent.

In second position is another perpetual golfer; B. Gbadagesi whose game ended with a cumulative of 309 with +21 after 72 holes. Starting the round with a par in the 1st/2nd holes, a bogey in 3rd hole and eventually finishing the front 9 with a bogey to make 35. A bogey in holes 10th and 13th with the remaining holes being a combination of birdies and pars saw him coming in with under 38, finishing the round with +3 (75).

In a media chat, the player seem amazed yet happy of his game despite not making a cut. Quite interesting how he could move from 5th place to being the second position on the board.

Topping the leaderboard with a par (72) is the ever relentless golfer; U. Anoruo. He started the round with a par which was not too bad but eventually played bogeys in hole 4th,8th and eventually finishes the front 9 with an Eagle. With pars in hole 10th,11th,15th & 16th, a bogey in hole 13th and birdies in hole 17th & 18th in the back 9, saw him coming in with 39, finishing the round with par (72).

“All I can say now is wow! I am happy am getting my footing back, though the game of golf can’t be predictable but am optimistic about coming victorious and getting the prize money at the end of the tournament “, Anoruo said in a media chat with the africantour correspondent.
